The Benefits of Premium Fuel
Gasoline with an octane level of 91 or higher is considered premium fuel. Many auto manufacturers recommend premium-grade gasoline because it helps high-performance engines run at their best. In fact, most new light-duty vehicles either require or are designed to perform optimally with premium fuel.
These vehicles often feature high-compression engines, turbochargers or other advanced performance components. While using regular or midgrade gasoline won’t necessarily damage the engine, it can reduce efficiency and performance.
