Split Mountain Travel Plaza Re-Builds After Explosion
In the early hours of March 2nd an explosion rocked the small town of Jensen Utah. Authorities think the explosion may have been caused by propane that ignited. Many businesses were heavily damaged by the explosion including Split Mountain Travel Plaza on highway 40.Luckily no serious injuries were reported because the explosion happened just after midnight; had it happened during the busy day it would have been catastrophic.
Tracy Honeycutt and her team are re-building after the explosion. The truckstop has been closed since the accident but they are working hard to re-open soon. Tracy Honeycutt was quoted by Salt Lake City’s KSL TV as saying:
This isn't just a job. This is our family. We are all here together rebuilding. We're rebuilding ourselves. We're rebuilding as a group of employees, and rebuilding the store. –Tracy Honeycutt
We are thankful that all the employees of Split Mountain Travel Plaza are safe. As the doors of this beautiful travel plaza open again please be sure to stop in and patronize their business; thank them for re-opening, and show support to them.
As your make your summer plans be sure to visit Split Mountain Travel Plaza. It is located on Highway 40 on the east side of Vernal Utah near the Colorado/Utah border not far from Dinosaur National Monument.
